Where can I find great onion soup in Paris? I've been there five times and still came away disappointed.

Any expert advice would be greatly appreciated. BTW, I'll be staying in the 9th district.

Thank You :)

  1. The tradition in France is to eat "Soupe à l'oignon" very late at night (or even very early in the morning after a night out!). Considering this, my advice would be to try one of the restaurants owned by the Blanc brothers. Some of them are open 24/7 and they all offer a very good traditional "Brasserie" cuisine :

    - Le Grand Café Capucines (Opéra)

    - L'Alsace (Champs-Elysées)

    - Le Pied de Cochon (Les Halles)

Other adresses (not all 24/7) :

  2. My choice is the Bouillon Racine at 3, rue Racine in the 6th.

    Here is their website: http://www.bouillon-racine.com/en/home/i...

EDIT: It occurs to me that I ought to ask what precisely you found disappointing. What is it that you are expecting?

  3. L'Ecluse right off Blvd. Ste. Michel on Quai des Grands Augustins. You enter off the street and go down some steps but it is not really a cellar. There is usually music or various sorts there and the soupe à l'ognion is great.

    :-)
