French Open: Gary Boyd off to a good start
One of the most awaited European Tour events, the French Open has finally started. The venue for the Open is Le Golf National, near Paris. It is one of the most difficult courses in France.
As the first day started, the players were trying their best to exhibit the best performance possible.
The English Professional Golfer, Gary Boyd had a tremendous start to the Open. He picked up the lead right at the start and did not let it go.
A month ago, Boyd participated in the ISPS Handa Wales Open. After the match, he gave a positive statement about hi s game, "I know my best golf is just around the corner".
He seemed to be in good form then and even now, he has proven himself to be one of the top players in the world.
The world’s 261 had a magnificent start to the front nine, as he carded three birdies on the first four holes and then scored another one right at the end, on the 9th hole.
There were no eagles, bogeys or double bogeys in the Englishman’s game. He completed the front nine at four-under par.
The 25-year-old did not have the same luck on the back nine. He just scored a single birdie at the start, on the 10th hole and the rest were pars. His score for the back nine was one-under par.
Thus the total score for the day for Boyd was five-under par. He completed the 7347 yards course in 66 shots.
Boyd is playing alongside Australian left-hander Richard Green. Green had a bad start to his game, as he carded three bogeys on the front nine. They did not include any eagles, birdies or double bogeys. His score in the front nine was three-over par.
On the back nine, the Australian was only able to card two birdies and two bogeys. So his back nine had no influence on his total score and he finished the first day at Le Golf National with three-over par.
He would have to show an extraordinary performance in the next three days to secure a better position in the tournament.
