French Open: Martin Kaymer is back again
Martin Kaymer is one of the best players in the game. Over the years, he has shown that he can be a tough contender to beat in various tournaments.
In 2011, he even grabbed the top spot in the world rankings. Unfortunately for him, he occupied the position for only eight weeks. Presently, he is on number 14 in the world rankings.
In the year 2009, Kaymer was able to bag the French Open. In the years 2010 and 2011, he registered two consecutive top-10 finishes.
It is again time for the French Open and the event is taking place at Le Golf National. Kaymer has described this course as “the best course we play all year”. This year, he is looking to repeat the victory of 2009.
In an interview, the German described the course to be the best golf course on the tour and even the most difficult one.
According to Kaymer, it is difficult because many different shots are required on the course and the weather conditions just make it even harder.
The 27-year-old said, “It makes it even more interesting, especially the last four holes, when it comes down to Sunday when you have a chance to win when you are only two or three shots behind. Even when you are two or three shots behind, it's not over,
because they are so difficult, the last four holes”.
The German continued that the tournament has always been very exciting for him. One has to be very consistent in every part of his game to win it.
“I cancelled a lot of things in the next few weeks so that I can prepare and practise and have more time for myself, because that's the reason why I play golf, I want to play well,” he continued.
Martin Kaymer is all set for the tournament and is fully focused on the Open. Analysts believe that he is one of the strongest contenders in the Open and has a real chance to win it.
It is true that lately, he had lost his form and he has not been able to win any event all year long.
On the contrary, in the previous years, he has been very consistent and he has been the favourite to win the title many times.
