French Open Super Series: Jung Jae Sung-Lee Yong Dae bag Men’s Doubles title – Badminton news
Korea’s ace shuttlers, Jung Jae Sung and Lee Yong Dae continue their supremacy as they have bagged the Men’s Doubles title after beating China’s Cai Yun and Fu Haifeng in the final of the 2011 French Open Super Series, at Paris, Franc, on Sunday, October
30.
Jae Sung and Yong Dae, who are placed at the 2nd position in the Men’s Doubles world rankings, are in tremendous form and have won two back-to-back titles in two consecutive weeks. They won the last week’s Denmark Open Premier Super Series and
now emerged as the winners in the French Open.
On both occasions, the Korean pair thrashed the World Number One and top seeds, Cai Yun and Fu Haifeng of China, who are also the ruling World Champions.
In the final of French Open, Jae Sung and Yong Dae played terrific badminton and defeated the higher ranked Chinese opponents in a mouth-watering three-set contest, which lasted for 56 minutes.
The Korean duo lost the first game without displaying any considerable fight. Nevertheless, they made a strong come back in the second set and took it easily. It was a completely smooth sailing for the Korean shuttlers in the third game as they finished
it with a wonderful margin.
In the first game, the top seeded Chinese pair remained dominant throughout the set as they were quicker at the net to take points. The Koreans failed to tackle the aggressive play of the higher ranked opponents and lost the game with a margin of 14-21.
In the following game, Jae Sung and Yong Dae changed their game from the opening points which worked well for them as they came into dominating position. The Chinese pair failed to continue their attacking game and became defensive which helped their Korean
rivals to take the second game with a 21-15 score.
In the deciding game of this breath-taking fight, Jae Sung and Yong Dae put up a stunning show of flawless badminton as they missed no chance to take points. Their spirited approach and phenomenal play earned them final set with a huge difference of 21-11.
The rubber-set fight ended with a margin of 14-21, 21-15 and 21-11.
