French Open Super Series: Wang Xin claims Women’s Singles crown to continue her peerless run
China’s young and talented shuttler, Wang Xin claims Women’s Singles crown of the 2011 French Open Super Series to continues her peerless performance as also won the title in the last week’s Denmark Open Premier Super Series.
In the final of the French Open, the World Number Three Xin tamed her lower ranked team-mate, Li Xuerui, on Sunday, October 30, at the indoor arena in Paris, France.
The third seed Xin played her usual tricky game and showed no mercy to Xuerui, who is currently World Number 14 in the Women’s Singles world rankings. The higher ranked Xin took 39 minutes to give a lesson to her opponent in a straight-set contest.
Xin is in tremendous form for the last couple of months and has earned two titles by playing fabulous badminton. Her phenomenal performance in the French Open helped her to win the second in two consecutive weeks.
In the final contest of the French Open, Xin delivered her superb run against the compatriot and emerged as the winner in straight games by spending just 39 minutes in the court. Xuerui failed to make her mark over the in-form and higher ranked team-mate.
In the first set, both ladies played top class badminton by employing wonderful strokes in all areas of the court. However, Xin started to build a gap by putting more power and pace in the rallies and remained successful setting up a comfortable lead until
the break.
The higher ranked Chinese continued her dominating performance in the second half of the opening set and won it with a 21-15 margin on the score board.
In the second set of this final battle, Xuerui played different game this time as she eliminated all of her mistakes. She remained positive in the opening half of the set and remained successful by progressing at the same pace against her rival. Until the
break, both shuttlers were quite close on the score board.
After the break, the score remained tight and reached at the ending phase when Xin played smart game and scored the winning point by making a difference of 21-19. The ending result of this straight-set final match was 21-15 and 21-19.
