French Open Yaroslava Shvedova wining streak comes to end by Jelena Jankovic
Shvedova has had her fair share of wins at the French Open. Recently, she has been able to win match after match. Her first round fight was with Shenay Perry whom she won over. Shvedova recorded a 6-4 6-4 win.
She played the next round against Angela Haynes. Shvedova claimed the victory and Haynes lost a 6-1 6-2 set. Elena Baltacha became her opponent in the third round but Shvedova once against got a 6-2 6-2 win.
Her victories in the Roland Garros serve as an addition to her list of wins particularly her US Open win. However, while Shvedova continues to win round after round, there are some who have pointed out that it may just be due to coincidence that the player is advancing from one round to another.
Consequently, Shvedova shares her thoughts about the Roland Garros and her matches.
There are many spectators who are not as familiar with Shvedova. As unfamiliar as she may be to other people, she is extremely familiar when it comes to playing on court.
Shvedova has been an aggressive player for the most of her matches. She is a confident enough to say that she is capable of playing nearly every type of tennis. Further, she also emphasizes how she repeatedly tries to polish her game to ensure a match victory.
Shevdova have been practicing hard in perfecting both her defense and offense. She has also been trying to improve her variation of shots. In an interview at the Roland Garros, Shvedova shares how she considers her aggressiveness, tall physique and powerful and strong condition as her strengths.
Since it was her first time participating in the quarterfinals of the French Open, it was clearly evident that here has been changes in the way Shvedova plays for her to qualify in such a round.
When asked what the difference was now that she proceeded to the quarterfinals, Shvedova explained how she has been working extremely hard throughout the year to achieve the kind of play that is she now showing both the spectators and players at the Roland Garros.
She also said that her hard work seemed to have paid since she managed to get past the initial rounds. She also emphasized that it was definitely her hard work which brought to where she is now specifically the quarterfinals of the French Open.
Shvedova further explained that she has already set her own goals and that she is determine to achieve them. In terms of tennis, Shvedova says that she’ll definitely fight for her post.
It is evident that Shvedova has been having a great run so far into the French Open. As natural as it is for players to feel the nerves particularly in Grand Slam tournaments, Shvedova explains that she was not as nervous as others might have perceived to be. In fact, she pointed out that since she knows that she’s playing her game, the nerves weren’t really there.
Shvedova summarizes in such that she goes to court, play, stick to her game and enjoy the match. The formula seems to have been working well for her since she has already advanced into the one of the last stages of the Roland Garros.
Further, Shvedova adds that the matches she played had been easy because she was able to shake off the nerves. She also merits it to experience that she was not pressured. For her, winning is her job and that’s what matters.
