  1. During the time of the french revoultion the country was facing extream starvation and freezing condions. At this time this time, the royals were living in luxary and comfort. Spending extravagantly and hosting large parties while their people starved in ghe feezing weather. The couple Marie and Louis spent a majority of their time at their lavish home versaille. Angry at the royals for living in such splendor and also because they sent money to help fund the American Revoution while they experince such hard conditions, they stomred Versalle and force the royal couple to come back to Paris. They lived as virtual prisoners for years in their palace in Paris. During that time the country was virtually run by Maximilien robespierre head of a club called Jacobin Club. The couple and their children tried to flea the country years later and were caught. They were tried for treason for abandoning their country and convicted. Both Marie and Louis were sent to the guillotine. I believe their children also died. Robespierre basically runs the country and starts a reign of terror during which hundreds were killed and sent to the guillotine himself. He himself was later sent to the guillotine for his ways. Not too long after starts Napoleons reign where he overthrows all those who overthrew Robespierre and he become the leader of france.

  2. Wow Those are huge questions.  Well it started more or less because of economics.  Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette were very uneducated as far as politics went.  They failed to recognize what their people needed and paid dearly for it.  There was an attempt at reconciliation before the Terror at the tennis court in Versailles where people with big ideas tried to meet with the king.  When he refused to see them they stayed on that tennis court for a long time until they were heard.  The king didn't deliver on his promises.  The people forced the king and the royal family to move back to Paris and held them captive in the royal residence.  The Guillotine was Robespierre's idea.  He started making lists and people on those lists were beheaded.  At first he had a lot of support because people saw it as cleansing the city of the Aristocracy.  The Error of beheading is known as the Terror. When it was at its peak it is known as the Great Terror.  People from the 1st and 2nd estate joined the 3rd estate to avoid being beheaded.  What happened to Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette's son (he was still a toddler) and other children after their death is quite tragic.  Politically, Napoleon became the President of the 1st Republic.  Later he made himself Emperor.
