I'm a chinese with US greencard. I have applied a schengen visa at French embassy for business. However, the plan has changed now to go to Madrid, Spain. Can I go to Spain with the schengen visa issued by Franch embassy? To prevent future problem, should I fly from Madrid to Paris afterwards just so that I won't have problem to apply the visa again in French embassy before I return to the U.S.?

  1. i think your shengen visa shuld cover all of the shengen countries...which i think include spain. why don't you look it up ? or call the consulate? and as long as u have a green card and a visa, u should be OK.

  2. The Schengen visa rule is that, you can enter any EU country with a Schengen visa. But your first destination must be the country that issued you the visa, in this case France. So, you need to enter France first, before you can go to Madrid. This is to avoid any complication.

Your problem is relatively easier. Instead of re-applying visa from Spain, why not, book an early ticket to France, tour around Paris for a while, enjoy the Eiffel Tower, and go to Madrid Spain for your appointment there. You get to tour two beautiful countries. If I were you, that is what Im going to do.

    happy trip!
