French coach Marc Lievremont satisfied with team’s efforts in training camp - Rugby News
The head coach of France, Marc Lievremont, is satisfied with his team’s output in the practice sessions being held for the forthcoming Rugby World Cup 2011. Talking to journalists on August 3rd, Lievremont said that he is impressed with his team’s desperate
efforts in the camp and declared it good sign for the upcoming Rugby World Cup 2011, starting on September 9 in New Zealand.
Marc Lievremont expressed his full confidence in his side and said that the French players are ready to go into the largest event of rugby with high hopes. He further said that,
“Yes I am satisfied with the way training has been going, actually it is above my expectations. It is true we are not in the habit of this rhythm of work to develop the athletic qualities, cohesion, to exchange with the players over the strategy. I was nevertheless
very careful as we had chosen a very ambitious preparatory programme.”
The coach further said that every individual of his side is motivated to put his best efforts into the world showpiece. Lievremont added that their fitness level is excellent at the moment and the recent training camps have further helped his side to increase
their stamina.
Frenchman furthered his conversation and said that, “Everything is going very well for the moment. What is interesting, is that the players have stuck to everything that we have proposed, even when we have urged them to increase the physical work.”
France has been competing in Rugby Word Cup events since 1987 but has not won the crown so far. They came very near to lift the Webb Ellis Trophy in 1999 but the Wallabies proved too strong in the final. The Wallabies crushed the French side by a huge difference
of 35 -12.
The French squad is currently placed at sixth position in the International Rugby Board ranking with 82.06 points. France remained 2nd on the point’s tables in the last Six Nations championship and lost the final game of the event to England.
