Ahead of the second-leg of the Champions League pre-quarterfinal against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-de-Marseille-c40127 to be the last French representative in the UCL
As Olympique de Marseille take on Inter Milan in the UEFA Champions League round of 16, whole of France is united and is keen to see the Rhone giants beat the Italians at the San Siro in order to progress through to the quarterfinals.
Les Phoceens are the last French team in the Champions League and face a monumental task to protect a 1-0 first-leg win in order to play in the quarterfinals which would be a big achievement for a club that has struggled a lot in recent weeks.
French teams have rarely held their own against their Italian counterparts in the UCL (41 wins, 64 defeats and 36 draws), but the Rhone giants face a side that has its own fair share of domestic problems.
Unbeaten at San Siro so far, Marseille would be desperate to repeat the feat of the first leg and though the status quo has changed for both sides, Deschamps knows that his side still have a chance against Claudio Ranieri’s men.
Victory is almost imperative to Marseille. Not to mention the fact that elimination at this stage of the competition would be a bad result for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899’s standing in the UEFA coefficients. Under threat by the Portuguese sides, Marseille should somehow find
a way to play in the last eight of Europe’s most prestigious club competitions.
Therefore, the national and regional press has made it their mission to push Didier Deschamps’ men for a positive result that will have a big affect on where France football would go in the next few years.
“Last chance. Marseille look for their http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jean-c18112 Dujardin made when he won the Oscar.
For their part, Le Provence have shown their support by giving a pretty practical reading of things.
“Qualifying will regain the team’s morale forward.”
Out of all the media departments, it is Le Parisien that says, “OM needs to dream,” in a bid to see the club keep the French flag flying for at least until the end of the quarterfinal stages.
