Hay everyone next year I am going to a Swiss Hotel Management school in Switzerland and for two months before my course I am going to go away to learn a language more. I am thinking of learning French in Switzerland beforehand as my Hotel Management course is there, but my other friend is learning German in Berlin first. Which would be easier to learn (i only know english), and which would help me the most in the hotel industry?

  1. congratulations, and I think you're very smart and open minded to go abroad. I ended up living in Germany for 16 years after having originally been an exchange student, and it was an EXCELLENT experience- will be going back soon. I think it's up to ypu- learn the language you're most interested in! I have reached native speaker fluency in German (it's as good as, if not better than my English these days), and I can tell you that you don't realize you're speaking a foreign language once you've really mastered it. I think French sounds beautiful, and I've been told that German sounds very rough and harsh- but I can't hear that anymore because it's simply one of my languages now.

  2. french is a prettier language, but its disgustingly complicated..
