French police and drugs?

I recently traveled from Amsterdam to Paris via train. when i arrived at paris nord station i was walking on the platform when i noticed two guy just standing there. i made brief eye contact and they came over to me and asked me where i was coming from. when i said Amsterdam they asked if i had consumed any drugs while i was there. i said no and they said if they done a urine test would it show i lying. do the french police have any jurisdiction over what someone does in another country with different laws

marijuana is legal in Amsterdam. im not sure how the french work but they shouldnt really punish you if you still have it in your system when you did it in another country
