Which is the difference between the Brigade de Recherche et d'Intervention and Recherche Assistance Intervention Dissuasion (I’ve checked on Wikipedia but I don’t understand everything)

The RAID is an operational unit of intervention in extreme situations - nothing in particular with terrorism -

Historically created on tragedy on Munchen 1972 olympic plays, the RAID is recruited, trained, armed in order to face all the situations including crazy desperate people shooting in all directions from their windows, can intervene in exfiltration of hostages etc etc - they cooperate with western equivalent forces, can use all the best armaments, each one for each situations and ammunitions - mainly russians are trained in France under control or the Raid - Something else : RAID can work under direct control of the Ministers

There are two comparable forces which are "groupe d'intervention de la gendarmerie nationale", and "groupe d'intervention de la police nationale" -

Those three units are very similar - make a remarkable work of which aim is " neutralize - never kill " and can be considered with german and british forces, in their category, as the elite of the world - nothing equivalent exists in the States -

They can be engaged against terrorists - this was the case ten years ago with the Airbus in Marignane airport, Marseilles - in which every terrorist has been, on order, eliminated and every passenger SAVED.

The Brigade de recherche et d'intervention is comparable to RAID - but depends on regular police forces - and only facing

situations created by gangsters -
