For the first time since 1993, Olympique de Marseille have reached the quarterfinal of the UEFA Champions League. Didier Deschamps side achieved the remarkable feat at the expense of Italian Serie A giants http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 Milan.
Olympique de Marseille arrived at San Siro carrying a 1-0 first-leg advantage over Claudio Ranieri’s men. However, the French giants knew they were up against a tough task. Certainly, the game started in that fashion as many had expected it to start at.
Inter dominated the game but could not find a way past an excellent http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wesley-Sneijder-c36799 and then Milito in the early stages of the first half.
However, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Diego-Milito-c11166 did get to score a goal in the 75th minute.  The game was destined for extra-time but Marseille striker Brandao scored Marseille’s first of the night to give the visitors an advantage. Though Pazzini did manage to pull one
back to level the tie, it was not enough as Marseille went through on the away goals rule.
Following the historic win, many French newspapers have praised the Rhone giants for proudly flying http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899’s flag in the Champions League.
“Heroic! Simply magical”, were the headlines on L’Equipe. France today on the other hand, commended the team for managing a “big feat in Milan”.
Following a goal that he will remember for a long time, Brandao was the man obviously under the spotlight. Considered as a plague sent to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Brazil-c2858 to be forgotten, the striker has made a thunderous return to the Canebiere.
Author of five goals in 2012, the former Shakhtar Donetsk man has written down his name in Marseille’s history. Logically, the Brazilian’s exploits have harvested media accolades.
“Incredible Brandao”, said L’Equipe while La Provence said, “Brandao sends OM to the quarters. Thank you Brandao.”
If one goes back to last summer, it is certainly going to look odd with the way media is praising Brandao but the striker certainly deserves a lot of praise for scoring a goal that may well prove to be a turning point in Marseille’s season.
