French rider Cyril Dessel decides to end his long cycling career – Cycling NewsCyril Dessel has decided to end his 11 year cycling career at the end of the season and has not decided anything about his future as he will take a break for a while. Cyril started his career in 2000 with Jean Delatour and stayed with the team since 2002 before he moved to the Swiss team Phonak for two years.The French rider joined team Ag2r-La Mondiale in 2005 and is still representing them during the UCI Pro Tours. He is famous for his tremendous climbing skills and has secured many victories for himself and the team using his unmatched abilities.Dessel has seen a lot of success with Ag2r as his first big win with the team came with winning the Tour Mediterranean 2006 followed by a second finish during the stage 10 of Tour de France 2006. He won the yellow jersey for one day and also led the King of Mountains classification as he finished sixth at the Tour de France 2006. Cyril won stage 16 of Tour de France 2008 as he managed to overcome Yaroslav Popovych, Sandy Casar and David Arroyo.He recently commented that he had made his decision to stop his professional cycling career. Dessel stated that he would take some time off away from the sport and then begin to think about what he will do in the future.The 36-year-old French cycling sensation is not the only player to resign this year as the 42-year-old Italian cyclist Andrea Noe has also announced his retirement after this year’s Giro d’ Italia. Captain of Team Geox-TMC Carlos Sastre has also announced the demise of his career at the age of 36 as Inigo Cuesta recently retired at the age of 42 this year.Cyril Dessel who was out of action for quite a long time has finally decided to say good-bye to all his fans and with all the experience and knowledge he can fit into his current Team Ag2r in a different role. It will be interesting to see if he decides to continue his future with his current team or prefers a different line for himself.
