French team face no trouble in beating Ukrainian shuttlers in the Sudirman Cup 2011 – Badminton News
The French Team faced no considerable trouble in beating Ukrainian shuttlers in the Sudirman Cup 2011, at Qingdao, China, on Wednesday, May 25.
In the Mixed Doubles fight, Baptiste Careme and Audrey Fontaine of France defeated Valeriy Atrashchenkov and Elena Prus of Ukraine in a wonderful three-set match. The French couple had to work really hard for three games against the talented duo from Ukraine.
Careme and Audrey lost the opening set by a tight margin of 22-24, as the Ukrainian shuttlers delivered a superb performance. The French couple then bounced back in the second game and levelled the match by winning the set with a 21-13 margin. In the final
game, Careme and Audrey were lucky, as they won the set by a dramatic 26-24 margin.
Top seed of France in the Men’s Singles category, Brice Leverdez, went down to Dmytro Zavadsky of Ukraine in straight games. Brice was unable to play well at the end of the opening set and lost it by a tight margin of 23-25. In the second game, he made many
errors in the start and lost again by a one-sided difference of 14-21.
Pi Hongyan of France showed no respect to Larisa Griga in a straight-set match which lasted for 35 minutes. In the first game, Pi thrashed her opponent 21-12, by playing a much better game. She remained ahead of the challenger in the second game as well
and ended it with a 21-16 difference.
Baptiste Careme and Sylvain Grosjean of France crushed Ukraine’s Vitaly Konov and Dmytro Zavadsky without facing any resistance from their opponents. The French pair proved that they are miles ahead of their challengers in every aspect of the game. They
finished the match with a 21-12 and 21-12 margin, in just 24 minutes.
In the Women’s Doubles category, Laura Choinet and Audrey Fontaine of France worked hard against Anna Kobceva and Elena Prus in a rubber-game match. The French pair won the first set by 21-15 margin and lost the next one by a difference of 17-21. In the
third game, the French duo demonstrated top quality badminton and grabbed the set by 21-14 margin.
