I have briefly read the book and basically it's just another diet book. I have lived in France for a number of years and the reason French women dont get fat is that they eat very carefully. If they have a big lunch for example they'll compensate by having a small dinner.

As a nation the French are obsessed by food and pay close attention to what they eat, trying to eat a very healthy balanced diet.

Its because they walk a lot, eat less, and drink a lot of coffee. The French have very fatty food, but they do not eat until they're full and walk it off pretty easily. Plus the coffee they drink keeps their metabolism high.

I just spend 3 weeks in France, and this is so not true! :-)

Maybe there are not so many overweight women in France as there are in the US, but there are enough French women who do get fat as well! So do the men btw..

But you are probably right, compared to American women the French are far less fat.

To be honest, I think the people in Europe (and Asia, and probably on other continents as well) are having much less weight problems then US citizens have (in average).

So it's maybe not so much about the French diet, but more about bad eating habits of a lot of US citizens.
