Frenchman Julien Quesne hopes to continue his winning streak at Trophee Hassan II this week
Frenchman Julien Quesne is all set to claim his second consecutive European Tour trophy at Trophee Hassan II in Morocco and will be poised against a stronger field as compared to the one he faced in Spain.
31-year-old Quesne won his first European Tour title last week, where he took over the raging Matteo Manasssero to land the Open de Andalucía.
Winner of seven professional events, Quesne has now landed in the North African country to face the formidable threats of the likes of Edoardo and Francesco Molinari, Major Champions Rich Beem and Michael Campbell, eight-time European Tour Money List winner
Colin Montgomerie and Italian teenager Matteo Manassero.
But the Frenchman is little intimidated.
He said, “It feels pretty good to be a European champion after my win last week but I have to turn the page and move on and try to keep going because I want to do better and better and achieve more in the game”.
Quesne played amazingly in the last round of the Open de Andalucía to pull in a stunning eight-under, 64 to win the title by two stroke.
He was barely able to keep Manassero at bay who was desperate to clinch a title to ensure his selection for the Masters next month.
The Frenchman is also baffled by the simple fact that he will be tee-ing off in the backyard of a King.
He said, “I have been to Morocco many times and won my first tournament in Morocco, in Dar es Salam on the Alps Tour, so I have to say that I love this country. It helps that I can speak French here and when you can speak your own language you get to appreciate
the country more".
Some of the top-ranked European Tour players will be part of the grizzled field this week.
Quesne will be relying on the newly gained confidence from the Open de Andalucía and will be hoping to clinch another title before heading into the heat of the season.
Quesne turned professional in the year 2003 and gained his European Tour card through the European Tour Qualifying Rounds in 2004.
He was also the Order of Merit winner of Alps Tour in 2007.
