Frequent disconnects from cable internet?

I've just had this service at this new apartment for a couple of weeks, and the problem seems to be occurring more frequently now.

My internet connection keeps stalling out and apparently the way to go about fixing this is restarting my modem. How do I determine the if the modem or the ISP is the cause of the problem?

  1. Call your cable company to come and fix it and keep calling them until they do. Modems have very little to go wrong. It will either work or fail completely. It will not behave intermittently like you describe.
