Fresh espresso?

i have a recipe that calls for 1/2 cup of fresh espresso.

now does this mean the powder espresso, or does it mean that you actually make the espresso like coffee?

It means that you should use an actual espresso liquid drink using freshly drawn water etc. depending on what you are making you might get away with using a substitute.

I make a coffee cake and buns etc which say you should add powdered espresso or fresh espresso - i actually use a coffee flavouring syrup and although it tastes slightly different.... it is still great!!!! link below:
