Fresh grad need advise for Art/Graphic Design/Advertising job requirement?

i'm a studio art major grad. student. i learned different kind of stuff in school such as graphic design, printmaking, ceramic and photography. i do have creative ideas and skills but i don't have any real working experience(no internship). i'm interested in Art/ Graphic Design/ Advertisting/ visual merchandiser field. i live in LA. How can i easily get a job? i've been searching on the monster/careerbuilder but there are very less entry-level over there. where i can find more entry-level position? Any suggession? please help! THANKS!

  1. I would suggest a few things. #1 - buy the book "What Color is your Parachute" and read it. It'll teach how the very best way to find jobs. #2 - get a simple website with your portfolio up and running, and #3 start volunteering your services and time while you search for a job. You can put volunteer positions on your resume, which looks great, and you can build your portfolio at the same time. It's really important to think of yourself as a commodity - sell yourself to everyone you meet. Networking is very important, that means talk yourself up to others -- and let everyone you meet know you are looking for a job. The book I mentioned will go into way more detail, and I promise it'll make a big difference :) Good luck!
