Fresh off bye, San Francisco 49ers gearing up for next challenges – NFL News
Although San Francisco 49ers still have sole lead in National Football Conference (NFC) West, Seattle Seahawks are fast coming close to them.
Fresh off their bye, 49ers are up for increasing their lead and extending their advantage over other teams in the division by making a successful run of consistent victories.
49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh said of the team after the bye, via 49ers’ website:
“Excited and looking forward to the preparation this week, another division game. And getting our players back and on the practice field tomorrow will be a good thing for us.”
49ers are going to face St. Louis Rams this Sunday. Rams are currently placed at the bottom of NFC West and since the competition in the division is very tough the Rams might not be able to qualify for the playoffs.
However, there is no denying that the Rams can end the season on a positive note without qualifying for the postseason.
Their quarterback Sam Bradford is having a much better season as compared to the last season, in which he spent most of the time out of the field owing to injuries.
Although Bradford still has to do a lot of efforts to improve his overall performance, Harbaugh is of the view that the quarterback has a great potential. Talking about his Week 10 opponents, the 49ers head coach said of the Rams quarterback:
“He’s always been a pretty top-notch guy. I know we didn’t see him last year, he was inactive for both games that we played against them. But, all the things you look for from a top-notch quarterback in this league. He’s got a calm demeanour in the pocket.
Excellent technique, footwork, arm strength, real good location. Good football player.”
49ers are currently on a two-game winning streak with the recent wins coming against Seattle Seahawks (13-6) and Arizona Cardinals (24-3).
After defeating two divisional opponents in a row, 49ers are hoping to outclass another divisional opponent.
At 6-2, 49ers are leading NFC West, but they must not get complacent as they still have the second half of the season to go. This period will determine the playoff teams for this year.
