Question:

Fresh water fish in a 40 gallon tank?

We got a 40 gallon tank for free from my dad's friend. We are setting up a fresh water community tank we set up the tank already but i don't know what kind of fish to get, what pretty freshwater fish get along, and I want atleast 4 different kinds of fish in there. Thanks!

  1. Guppies {3 or more}

    Mollies {3 or more}

    Pleco [suckerfish] {one}

    Tiger Barbs {do best in 3 or so}

    Zebra Danio's {are fine singly or in groups}

    Gourami's {idk much about them, but i know they are good fish from my friend}

    Just keep in mind - 1 inch of fish per gallon

    as in, Say you have five 1inch mollies, and a 5inch Pleco in a 10 gallon tank. That is all you can have and if the fish grow you need to upgrade your tank to a bigger size.
