Freshman Dorm Room: Tips on creating an awesome hangout.?

Question

My roommate and I are moving into college tomorrow, and are trying to think up ideas that would make our dorm room stand out from others. We just want a dorm room that would catch the attention of others, and hopefully be a fun place to stay for when friends visit.

Currently, our dorm room is 14 by 12, with no air conditioning, and a strict rule about putting holes in the walls. So, that is one obstacle that we have to surpass.

As of right now, we have two Lofts, a Futon (for guests), a 37' Sharp LCD Television (flat screen), 17 inc LCD Telvision (one for each person), two XBox 360s, 5.1 Logitech Surround Sound with Sub, 12 by 8 bound carpet with padding, door hanging basketball hoop (random fun), Kerasotas Shooter movie poster, and some football posters. That is basically all that we have to offer at this moment.

What else would anyone recommend for an awesome dorm room?

Gee when I was in college, I didn't want people hanging out in my room. I would go hang out in others rooms, but loved my peace and quiet when I got back to mine!

I think that it sounds like you guys already have the beginnings of a great hang out place for all your friends! With those xbox's and the surround sounds, and those big tv's, you are sure to have the local hangout.

The only thing that I can suggest is to try and make sure you have as much open space as you can so people can walk around or just not feel so cramped when they are in the room. I know it can be hard, but just think of the best possible room arrangement for the most space (those lofts will majorly help leaving virtually the complete floor space for the futon and other random furniture besides the beds.)

Take some advice, make your room quiet and conducive to studying. College is for studying, not partying. If you party too much, or have the coolest room on your floor, everyone will want to be there and you'll never get any studying done.

Which means you'll never earn enough money in the future to pay the gigantic loans you end up with
