Please help me out on these three.. I've been working on this problem set for an hour and I can't figure it out.. Thanks!

1) Solve for m.

-4m + 2 < 26

2) Convert 18 centimeters to inches. Round to the nearest tenth.

3) James measures the volume of a container to be 1.15 liters. If its actual volume is 1.25 liters, what was Jame's percent error?

  1. 1) -4m + 2 < 26

    -4m + 2 - 2 < 26 - 2 (subtract 2 from both sides)

    -4m < 24 (simplify)

m > -6 (divide both sides by -4 and remember to flip the inequality sign)

    2) since 1 inch = 2.54 cm (approximately), you can do a unit conversion to divide 18 by 2.54

    18cm/1 x 1inch/2.54cm = 18/2.54 = 7.1 in
