  1. I had over a 4.0 as a freshmen in high school basically by paying attention in class and doing homework. With that being done, only a moderate amount of studying will suffice (most of the time) for tests/quizzes.

  2. All right. This is corny, but join a lot of clubs (not too much) and do the ones you're really interested in. So by the time you're a senior, you could be a president, vice or secretary or something, and that looks good on college resumes.

Take Honors courses. They increase your GPA because they're known as "weighted classes".

Start lookin' into college scholarships that are provided in your area. Like in my area it's known as the A+ program. Basically it covers my first two years of college just by following a few requirements.

Focus on your schoolwork, of course, and if you're the type of person that's not afraid of public speaking, Debate or Drama can give you a lot of scholarships as well (and again looks good on a resume)

Get out and have fun! My freshman year went by so fast and i didn't get to do everything i wanted to do, like go to all the dances and even a few football games. It's a year that you won't get back.

During all this, just be sincere, because when you start writing college essays, if you've been sincere, you'll sound it when you talk about your experiences.

    Hope that helps!
