Freshman...nervous scared..high school?

Question

i am going to be a freshman this year in high school. I am so scared, nervous, and just really don't want to go. The high school I have hear of are horrible drugs, gangs, lock downs, fights, fights, and more fights. The school does have gangs, fights, and I am not sure of drug dealers. But I am nervous what should I say if someone starts talking about a gang with me? I can't show fear, nicest, or anything like that. Any advise, and thanks.

btw how do I ask my brother to teach my how to fight, like a boy? I asked my dad last year and got no help. I need to know for protection reasons. and no i am not overrating about the school, cause a fight almost happened when i was out their to get some information and the principe say something about drug dogs.

someones probably not gunna be like "Wanna join my gang?" i highly doubt it. If they look like gang members don't associate yourself with them.

And just ask your brother be like "can you show me how to fight?"

Well, your first problem was asking someone how to "fight like a boy." Wow, way to downplay your gender there. People FIGHT, there's no "fight like a boy" or "fight like a girl" c**p. Make a fist, put your thumb over your fingers, and punch using the first two knuckles. No magic about it.

The people that get into fights at that school (if it really is as bad as you say) are the people in the gangs. That's it. People don't just run around fighting people for no reason, that's just nuts.

If someone asks you about joining a gang, just walk away or say, "Thanks, but I'm not interested." There's no reason you should feel pressured to join a gang...they're lame and you don't need them.

If you're really worried, start hitting the weights. That way, they can see your big guns and not want to get into a fight with you. You can always email me if you need help with that.

my school is Drug deals,Bomb threats,Alchohal,Fights,People trying to terrorize us but some dude walked into the building and my friends ran away with me and a guy with a gun and i was scared i think i peed my pants alittle but i dropped kicked him and i kicked him in the spot and he got up and i hit his knees and i knocked his head into the wall and there was blood everywhere know everyone is scared of me lol :) i felt good about it and i feel really powerful

so basicly your saying all this because there was ONE fight while you were there and you heard SOMETHING about drug dogs?

fights happen at every school. h**l they happend at my elementary school.

actually most things you listed go on at most highschools.

the highschool im going to this year had a lockdown cause some idiot brought a sword. yeah, a sword lmfao.

there probably are drug dealers and gangs there too.

but like jenna said, gang members arnt gonna walk up to you and be like "wanna join my gang?"

and drug dealers arnt gonna come up to you and like push drugs on you. cause then theyd probably get caught.

in the VERY rare occasion that something like this does happen, just say no thanks and walk away. simple as that. its not like there gonna beat you up for saying no.

oh and i know at the highschool im going to, they bring the cops and dogs in randomly to do drug checks. so thats nothing to be worried about at all.

as for the fighting thing, protection reasons? unless some chick is out to get you, you really dont need to know.

but whatever

just go up to your brother and say teach me how to fight.

he might laugh at you at first lol but if your serious about it h**l probably do it.

im sure ull be fine honestly fights and drugs and stuff is in every school and there really isent anyway to get out of it

like my bro says if u dont want no trouble than dont go lookin for it just be urself and if hear bout somethin goin on like a fight ur somethin then just stay out of it and stay away from people who could get u into trouble like that

if someone comes up to and starts talkin about somethin that maybe ur not comfotable talkin about then just calmly and nicely walk away from it

high school is sposed to be fun and not scary so just do the stuff that u like doin and dont say or do anything that may get u into trouble cause nobody is gonna say anything or do anything to u unless u did somethin to make them mad so just avcoid them

ulll be fine. just think calm i was like that too. im a jr. my school doesnt have gangs but we do get fights. there is nothing wrong with being scared. are ur friends at the same school?

Good question. Try not to be too scared cuz overall high school should be a pretty good experience for you. I went to a high school very similar to yours (only we accually DID have drug dealers, quite a few got caught). Everythin will be ok, just try not to fall into a crowd that you really dont fit into (unless abosolutely necessary, i wont sugercoat it, sometimes there are situations where you have to, but only in times of extreme desperation). just be you, join a club or a sport, that helps alot with popularity. much luck to you

look i am a sophmore this year and obviously i survived it rele isn't as bad as ppl make it out to be! it's alot of fun after the first week!! before you know it summer will be here again!! good luck.

I was a freshman last year, and that's what I heard about my school. I was terrified. But it actually turned out to be a really nice school. These rumours are probably just to scare you. I have the occasional fight at my school, but its nothing big, two people shoving eachother around, cause' they have a problem with eachother or something. There are also drugs at my school, but you'll only find them if you go looking for them. Basically if you don't go looking for trouble, you won't get any trouble. Good luck :)
