Freshmen 15? ways to eat healthy?

im a freshman this year and im trying to drop some weight.

we have subway and a pizza shop, cappacino machine, sluchie machine and cookies...desserts etc.

how can i eat healthy

i need a drink and a food

  1. try to eat in moderation. and then workout in the gym on campus when you can!


  2. The Freshman 15 is mostly due to many college cafeterias serving "buffet-style"--meaning you go in for lunch/dinner and eat all you can eat.  For this reason it's difficult to try to eat in moderation and healthily.

    I'm assuming you're not in that situation since you didn't mention it. Luckily you don't have to deal with the temptation of eating at a buffet.  So eating in moderation and avoiding the Freshman 15 should be a lot easier for you. Good luck!

  3. booze and late night binge diets are what really give you the freshman 15.  beware of those.  

  4. You need to exercise.

    I played rugby my first year of college (you don't have to go that far, because it's a lot of really hard work and injuries.)

    I worked out 3-4 days a week at practice or games and I ran or worked out in a gym (weights, cardio machines) the other days.

    I was buff.  I lost 20 pounds.  I ate whatever I wanted (including a 4-can-a-day Mello Yello habit) and I actually lost weight.

    Exercise is the way to go.  Take some classes at the gym or even better, take a phys ed course for credit and you can eat your cake (and ramen noodles, and mac-n-cheese, and pizza, and crunchy fried snacks...you get the picture.)

    But do try to limit the Mello Yellos.  One time I got super hyped up on that hillbilly high-test and wrote a really lengthy poem about how Mello Yello changed my life.

    I should find that thing and show it to my therapist.  I'm sure it would be good evidence of something or other.

  5. wow me too!! i plan on eating at the subway i have on campus and hitting the gym everyday. avoid the pizza shop and the cappuccino machine and slushie machine too. drink water, milk, fruit juice, or smoothies.  

  6. Cook for yourself! Pasta or rice with everything is great, as is lean meat like chicken.
