  1. I've never had any but know what they are.  My boyfriend has been in the business for decades and likes them too....we see them at wholesalers.  Here's info I found for you:

It's on one type, but I'm sure they're all similar.  Good luck!!!

  2. Bichirs are an ancient species of fish that has been around for over 100 million years. There are many different subspecies, with the sizes ranging from 10-40 inches in length. These fish are relatively easy to take care of and keep. They need a large aquarium due to their adult size. They are inter-species compatible, just be careful when mixing Bichirs because they will eat (or try to eat) any small fish in the tank. They can also be mixed with other Bichirs, but some agression (i.e. fin nipping) may occur, but it hardly ever ends badly. I find they do best on a staple diet of larget sinking carnivore pellets, with chopped fish, frozen beefheart, or live earthworms as an occasional treat. Also, I keep mine at about 82 degrees. Be sure to keep your aquarium covered securely, because when these fish get large, they can jump out of the tank with a lot of force. Also, they have a primative lung in their bodies, which means they MUST have access to atmospheric air or they will surely drown. They also need a few hiding places in the tank because they love to be in the dark. I hope this helped.
