  1. It has not been entirely found if puffer's are freshwater or brackish water or full salt water.

But they are aggressive, are you planning on keeping just the one fish and corals?

They do need a specific gravity I cant tell you what it is, I was going to get a figure eight to go with my mollies in my brackish tank but was advised by the knowledgeable answerers to leave it at the store.

    Hope this helps!

  2. What kind of puffer do you have? Dwarf Puffers, Mbu Puffers and several others are true freshwater and die in salt. Brackish puffers vary in their salt needs, figure 8 puffers can only live in low-end brackish, whereas green spotted puffers can live in marine.

What species of puffer do you actually have? Each species has different needs.

  3. Whether or not the fish can live depends on the puffer species.

Most puffers are known to attack invertebrates. If you just keep a fish only tank, that's fine, but a tank that relies on crews of small crabs, worms, sea stars, and snails to combat algae and detritus will find itself with a well-fed puffer. Because of this, they really aren't all that reef-safe.
