  1. You can use a combination of dechlorinated tap water and distilled water, but not straight distilled water.  Distilled water is entirely pure, devoid of the minerals fish need to respire, regulate their osmotic pressure, and do virtually anything else.  This lack of electrolytes will slowly kill the fish as their nerve function slows.  Again, mixing mineral-rich tap water with distilled water is not a problem, but entirely mineral-free water is.  There are no toxins in distilled water, just a severe lack of.

EDIT: The best part is that I can't tell if my three thumbs down are from trolls or just that many ignorant people.

  2. Yep,that`s all you do..

  3. Any water you put in (unless you buy it at the pet store for fish ) needs to be treated with water conditioner to remove all the bad stuff for your fish. When keeping your aquarium do a 25 % water change every week minimum.

  4. distilled is bad for fishes it still has toxins which are still dangerous to fish. i would use de chloranated tap water.

  5. You need to use tap water if it's not chlorinated.  I never use water that has chlorine in it.  That's just a pain.  Of course, we have a well, so....Change anywhere from 1/4 to 2/3 of the water, depending on how bad your tank is and invest in a good filter system so you don't have to change the water so often.

Side note:  nosoop4u, u are too funny!  By the way, I did NOT give you a thumbs down!  :)

  6. If you do use a tap water, than it is safe to use the drops, but it is also good for you to take some water and have it sit out for 2 to 3 days. If not the water cntains chlorine and it will kill the organisms in the tank.

  7. soup n**i is on the money!

use a mix of both or tap water with water treatment in it.( Prime is good.) Mix the water and treatment in  a clean bucket and if you have a portable aerator and stone use that it will help mix the water and the air bubbles helps get rid of chlorine. I age my water in a 200 liter drum outside (got a lotta tanks) and heat it as well. I have a pump in the bottom and a long hose. I can then pump "aged" water into my tanks. works great.
