Fridge freezer not going cold?

my fridge freezer has just stopped working not going cold and not freezing,there was a noise that sounded as if there was water running i thought maybe it was auto defrost so defrosted it fully and then switched it back on and it is still making the same sound and not going cold at all is it something that can be fixed or is it dead also i have noticed there is a small bit of damage to the interior of the freezer could this be anything to do with it as there is no damage to the fridge interior,thanks

  1. Its making the same sounds, so the power and the motor is running.

    So its not a simple fix to restore power.

    Sounds like the bit of damage has broke it, probably cost as much to repair as to replace.

Your fridge needs an expensive repair, it either has liquid gas trapped in the system or it has been running very hot and boiled the oil in the compressor then pushed it round the system, either way it needs at least a re-gas but I would scrap it if it is a cheap or old one. If you call out one of the cowboys they will put slightly more gas in it, it will probably work for a couple of days/weeks then it will pack up. They will charge you probably £80 for a re-gas but most will not repair it properly and at the moment there are so many bargains in the shops. You also mention a small bit of damage in the freezer, if this is a stab mark from a carving knife defrosting it,it is beyond repair.

  3. there should be a notch somewhere where you can controll the numbers (degrees) look for it and turn it low
