I have a upright fridge/freezer. the freezer part works ok, but the fridge does not cool. The control panel is alarming 9 degrees, but i thinks its warmer than that as the display only goes up to 9. Is it repairable? any tips?

  1. Not enough information to give you a diagnosis, take a look at this info and see if you can spot your problem -

  2. Try defrosting the whole unit.

  3. Is the fan in your freezer running? This is what distributes air into the fridge section.

  4. get a new one

  5. I would say there were two main things that go wrong with fridge freezers

Either the thermostat is faulty or the compresser. If your freezer is very cold then it wont be the compresser so it will be the themostatic control in your fridge compartment that is at fault.

Not sure how much that will be but themostats are cheap.

  6. Judging from what you say you have a frost free unit and at a guess I would say that the core has frozen. You need to put your frozen food elsewhere and then turn it off overnight with the doors wide open as you have an ice block in the feed duct to the fridge. If this problem happens again after a period of time it has probably got a heater or sensor fault so just keep an eye on it.

This can just be a case of high humidity or someone leaving the door ajar so it might never happen again.
