Question:

Fridge repair (non electric)?

Ok.

So the plastic shelf under-which my vegetable holders slide into broke. Basically a small piece fell off. Unfortunately this was the piece under which the whole compartment rested.

So now my vegetable holders are touching the bottom of the refrigerator and it is difficult to move them out. More importantly, this apartment is rented and I don't want my landlord to complain about the use of the fridge.

I have the piece that fell off and I want to re-attach it.

What adhesive should I use? I know normal house/wood glue will probably not work because this is plastic AND because of the moisture in the fridge.

What adhesive should I go to Home Depot and purchase that would be very strong at plastic that will consistently become wet/damp?

  1. If you decide to replace the part yourself (glue probably won't hold due to the small surface area) try looking at www.repairclinic.com.  They sell all kinds of repair parts for major appliances.

  2. Check out some epoxies at home depot or lowes and check the info to see if they work in cold/wet areas...The kind of epoxy im talking about is the kind you mix togeather btw

  3. Really it is a very easy thing to replace and usually not worth the effort to try and repair. I suggest reporting it to management and letting maintenance replace the shelf , if you wish you could offer to acquire the part from them or hunt one down on your own it should cost about $30.
