Fridge repair question. replaicing the seal on a fridge.?

so i want to replaice the seal on the fridge, but i dont know where to go to get one, or even where to start with finding anything about one. so please any info on the subject would be great. thanks

  1. I do not think home stores will have them. Look in the phone book for an appliance parts store.

    Sears parts can send you one or you can go to one of their stores to order it. You will need your FULL model number off of the label.

    But depending on the model they are not all that easy to install. There is a little art to it. And newer ones with foam filled doors where it is essentially "glued" in by the foam can be a real pain. Some you have to drill holes in the plastic and install screws after cutting out the old gasket. The screws will come with the new gaskets.

    There a few that are not too bad that have push in gaskets. Make sure you have a hair dryer for softening it up and to remove wrinkles but you have to be careful not to melt or warp the plastic.

    I have installed more than a few that the owner bought the gasket and then changed their minds about doing it themselves.

    And I hope it is torn because there are other things that can cause gaps like a bad hinge, door out of adjustment, or door hanging wrong because the refrigerator is not level or solid on all four legs.
