Fridge shorts power out. hi, can anybody help with a problem that i have with the fridge shorting

hi, can anybody help with a problem that i have with the fridge shorting my main supplies out. I think that i may have found the problem. at the back of the fridge there is some sort of timer switch, when i turn it around it shorts out at a certain point. the switch is located at the bottom of the fridge next to the black cylinder. the model of the fridge is an westinghouse silohuette frost free upside fridge/freezer. is it worth fixxing and if so is it an expensive problem to fix. cheer micheal
