Question:

Friend's mom has cancer?

One of my good friends just told me that his mom has liver cancer...and it is terminal.

She had breast cancer, and the doctors thought it was gone, but now it's spread to other parts of her body.

I have no idea what I can do for him.

I mean, his mom is dying...and I don't know how to help him.

He's only 16, and so am I.

  1. I just went through the same thing with one of my best friends. her mom just passed away a few months ago. just make sure you are there. When my grandpa passed away from cancer my friend was there and i was there when her mom passed. Your friend may and probably will feel many different emotions in the coming months. Just make sure you are there and listen when he talks and make sure he has a shoulder to cry on when he needs it. Good Luck

  2. I am so sorry. :(

Here are a few stories you can read about terminal illness... it's important to understand your friend's position, so you can act sensitively and kindly to him.

And a good link that says, "How to help cancer families":

Expect your friend to have a lot of pain ... if he ever gets "snappy" don't get mad... know that he will appreciate your support, even if he doesn't always show it.

Let him know you're thinking and praying about him.

  3. i'm so sorry to hear that. the best thing you could do right now is just be there for your friend when he needs to talk. it will help him a lot. try and get him out of the house every once in awhile to take his mind off things.

  4. Well buy his mom flowers, support breast cancer foundation an dbe their when he needs a shoulder to cry on. PRAY, PRAY AND PRAY! I'll pray also. Good luck and God bless

  5. I'm so sorry!!!  :(

My mom had breast cancer when i was 11 you should try to keep his mind off of it and go do stuff together to keep his mind off of it.

Hopes this helps it helped me.

  6. just let him rant and stuff but dont bring it up, he probably hears about it too much at home that by not talking about it you'll be helping him a lot. just treat him normally, try to help out as much as you can but dont treat him like he's special.
