  1. Your friend needs to get to a doctor right away.  Lung cancer, blood clots and many other life threatening problems can cause coughing up blood.  Rule of thumb is if blood is coming out of somewhere it normally doesn't, see a doctor fast.

You need to tell your friend that it is more important for her to get medical treatment then to worry about scaring people.  Her parents will recover from the fear, it will be much harder to recover over something more serious happening to her.

  2. Some things that could cause coughing up blood are Bronchitis, Inflammation of the blood vessels in the lung, Irritation of the throat from coughing, Inhaling blood into the lungs, among other things.

Vomiting of blood is called "hematemesis" & is a serious condition.  There are many things that could cause it inculding nosebleeds, blood in the lungs, stomach bleeding, Esophageal bleeding, amoung other things

  3. tell her to stop smoking cigarettes.

there could be a tons of reasons why, and it's very serious. Goto the doctor now!!

  4. Coughing up blood....#1 sign of Lung cancer. If she coughs up blood there's a 90% chance she has lung cancer..and I'm very serious. She should go get checked up ASAP.

Why two thumbs now?  I bet you I know about lung cancer then anyone answering this.

  5. Coughing up blood is a serious symptom of lung cancer. If your friend will not visit a doctor, you should research it and see if your friend has any other symptoms. If he does a visit to the doctor is nessessary (it kinda already is!). For more symtpoms of lung cancer visit the site below
