What kind of tivo? and what kind of directv? if a series 2 you can use a ir blaster to control the directv box.  You can also hook the series 2 , 3 or hd up to the internet. And play youtube videos, music videos, podcast, rhapsody music. and a lot of other stuff.

youtube only works on series 3 or tivo hd.

tivo series 3 and tivo hd will not work on directv
