My best friend for 18 years checked herself into rehab 6 months ago and has been clean ever since until last week. She started using heroine again and lying to me and I knew it. She called me crying tonight and admitted to everything and I didn't know what to say but "Why did you do it? I want you to be clean. I couldn't ever hate you, I love you and I want you to be clean." What do I do?

  1. See if your friend would be willing to get some sort of help. Methadone might help, but methadone can be very addictive as well.

Ask your friend if she really truly wants to quit, and if so, why is she hesitant to seek help.  the best way for her might be something called buprenorphine.  only certain doctors can dispense this drug, so go to buprenorphine.com (or dot-org maybe) and find a local dr. in your area.  unfortunately, bupe is kind of expensive, but it works well, by blocking the receptors in the brain that opiates work on.

so if your friend takes herion, she won't even feel it.  Pretty soon it's become like an out of sight, out of mind thing.
