  1. Quietest:  Galah or Rose Breasted 'too.

Bare-eyed and goffin come in a very close second...but when they scream.. it is "for real".

Cuddliest:  Sulfer/Citron crested group, Triton, Mullocan, Umbrella.  They are all generally snuggle bunnies...but make no mistake, they can all send you to the ER.

Cage Size:  If a Macaw can fit comfortably...then it should be adequate for a 'Too.

**I like the smaller 'toos on average.  From goffins, to the lesser crested's...they just seem to be more manageable in the average home.

  2. They can all be noisy.  There is no "least noisy". The sulfur crested, umbrella, and moluccan have the reputations of being the cuddliest.  They require a very large cage.  All cockatoos are enthusiastic climbers and need a large cage. Please read my  profile

  3. The least noisy types are Goffin's and Bare-eyed cockatoos, because of their size difference. But don't be mistaken, even they are capable of decibels that rival those of the large macaws! The cuddliest are Moluccan cockatoos, but they're also the loudest, most demanding and hardest to care for. The average Moluccan cockatoo needs at least 8 hours of daily interaction a day to be happy! So it's out of question for a working person.  The minimum cage size varies depending on species, but 4' x 3' x 3' is the average minimum cage size for ALL species of cockatoos; Moluccans, Umbrellas, and Greater Sulphur-crested cockatoos have a bigger minimum cage size. But owning any cockatoo as a pet is a huge commitment. Visit http://www.mytoos.com before you even consider buying a cockatoo as a pet -- it's a great, brutally honest site from a very experienced cockatoo owner.

  4. Hello.

I have 2 pets cockatoos , one is medium crested and one is goffin . Although I don't have DNA on the medium , but we call HIM ...Merlin, and when I bought the goffin, the breeder told me the goffin was DNA female , so we call her Sasha . They both are very friendly to me ( Sasha is 4 years old, not know how to bite ) Sahsa always wants to kiss , cuddle and she talks ( with my Asian accent ...lol...) they both know how to dance on my commands and they both play balls ( kick balls ) they do all kinds of funny stuff and they talk more than 5 sentences . It is depending on how young and how you inter_act with them , train for them to be your friend . They need a lot of attentions, love and time from you . But you will get reward because they are just like a baby to you ...they always be there for you as a companionship . I love my pets toos and I hope you will get one as cute and friendly as mine . Good luck !

  5. I have always LOVED goffin cockatoos! I have hand raised several (sadly none of them have been kept by me :( ). Other cockatoos get a mature look as they get older, but in my opinion Goffins stay looking like babies.

The last one I hand raised, I named him baby. Whenever he would see me, he would fly to the bars of his cage and get very excited! He never made that much noise, although he was kept in a very large area. He always loved to be cuddled and hugged against my chest. I never once was bitten by a goffin (although Im sure people have been). As long as they are hand raised, and treated right, they are great birds.

The larger the cage, the better for these guys, and any large bird. We have a cage that is 3 feet by 3 feet by 4.5 feet high, and it would be a good cage for a goffin, although as I said before, the bigger, the better
