  1. the friendliest cities are cologne and most of the cities around it. i lived there for 3 years.

  2. yes

  3. Actually, you find nice and rude people all over the world.

You can be lucky or you have bad luck. It also depends, who you meet (i.e. I'm nice :-)  ).

Should you have some questions in particular, you can also mail me.

  4. for one their is no excuse for a 'homeless person''  germany is a socialist country and they take care of almost everyone.  The most reasons homeless people here are homeless is because they either A.  Tried to screww over the welfare system, or B. They have a drug or alcohol problem that would not have costed them a dime to  go to rehab...they just choose not to.  Germans take care of their residents....oh and by the way for children i would advise a smaller town...they work great with the people, schools,  learning the culture, and great for children.  I live in a small town in Bayern Germany.  I came from a big city and I love it here where I live now.  Example:  I leave my bike unlocked, my car and my house.  No problems  because the neighbors are honest and friendly people..

  5. Most of the citys in germany are.

  6. Berlin, wolfsberg

  7. I agree with SandyB and I think that's the best answer.

Just a small remark, Germany is NOT a socialist country, they have special system called Social Market Economy (Soziale Marktwirtschaft), what means, maintaining a balance between a high rate of economic growth, low inflation, low levels of unemployment, good working conditions, social welfare, and public services.

A free market and private property are not only respected but also wanted (contrary to a socialist country, where free market and private property are not only unwanted but practically unexistent).

The difference to a laissez-faire capitalism is that together with a free economy you find also social justice: free production, trade and a free marke economy is OK, but without forgetting those who are weaker.

  8. Heidelberg, nice city, nice people, I see a lot of homeless people, it seems like most people have some empathy towards them, and I saw a homeless guy fall down one time and a young man in a nice suit ran over and helped the guy up.

  9. Germany as a whole is a friendly country. The social democratic nature of the many EU countries means that they generally have initatives in place to deal with social issues better than a typical US city.
