Many many many people in Paris speak english....even if you're a non-french speaking tourist, they'd expect to hear some french from you out of courtesy.

Remember you're in another country so sometimes the french person may choose to decide to speak in english or not.  Learn to speak the language a bit too so as to have 'friends' in Paris talk with u or u may stumble across someone who is a native english speaker.

When someone from a foreigner country speaks to me, I like hearing some French words, I have the feeling while that he is interested in persons who live in this country of France.
