Like for the first step which is reading out the lesson. Is it ok to ask the students to read out the lesson paragraph wise, followed by the teacher's explanation after each paragraph?

Ofcourse any other tips related to teaching a lesson would be highly welcomed :)

Thanks

  1. Clarify what type of lesson this is. Also, do you mean 6th-8th grade or 6-8 yrs old?

  2. Take what is taught to its non submersible unit then understand if the kids have interest in the submersible, all teaching should be teaching interest at this point in the childs life.

  3. A basic format that would work for any lesson:

    1.  Introduce/State objectives (brief statements of learning outcomes) You may also lead the lesson with a key question that students will be able to answer following the lesson.

    2.  Lesson Content - it sounds as if you are using a textbook. Having students read sections with your input would work.  You may want to consider providing students with a lesson outline that they can fill in as you read through the lesson.  This is a good way to teach students to take notes on key points.  Another method I really like when reading textbooks is called "Read to Find Out". I divide the text for the lesson into sections, and develop 1-3 questions for each section.  I introduce the questions for a section and  ask students to read that one section independently searching for the answers.  Struggling readers are paired with a stronger student.  Through this activity, students are guided into learning the most important ideas, and are able to practice reading skills.

    3.  Guided Practice - some activity that you do with students to check their understanding.

    4.  Independent Practice - students complete activity to demonstrate mastery of lesson objectives.

    5.  Assessment - Quiz, test, informal questioning
