Friendship Bay stands hot favourite at Lingfield card – National Hunt Preview
Lingfield horseracing course will host Lingfieldpark.Co.UK “National Hunt” Maiden Hurdle at 1:50 (GMT) on Thursday, February 23. The Class 5 contest of 2m110y distance contains £2,053 of prize money.
The 17 entries for the high-stakes event include Champion Versions, Diamond’s Return, Diamond Life, Friendship Bay, Jamesson, Lough Inch, Made In Italy, Netherby, Rush Cad, Shockingtimes, Trojan Sun, Willy Be Lucky, Orange Gizmo, Oscar Baby, Shantou Breeze,
Billy No Name and Onward.
Out of the above runners, Friendship Bay, Diamond Life and Trojan Sun are expected to grab top three positions in the Hunt respectively.
Here we present career snapshots of the trio in order to justify why they stand above all.
Friendship Bay
James Evans’ brilliant black gelding is returning to action after a gap of almost three years. He last ran on October 8, 2009 at Worcester and bagged his maiden victory. Overall, he has just four races to his career list. In his second last race during August
2009, he finished 3rd.
The Mrs J Evans-owned runner’s long rest is expected to have polished his skills further and he is likely to make a strong comeback today at Lingfield. His chances to win the race are as high as 80 percent.
Diamond Life
The Warren Greatrex-trained black gelding has run for two times to date since starting his career in December 2011. In his maiden outing at Taunton, the novice runner finished 3 against 11 competitors. The six-year-old notched up 2nd position
in his second race on January 21, 2012.
These two starts have well exposed the gelding’s talent. On today’s card, he stands in a favourable position to finish at least 2nd.
Trojan Sun
Since making his debut in March 2011, the trainee of Tom Symonds has been performing well. After finishing 6th in his maiden race, he stood 7th and 8th in two successive races. Though he has been winless so far but his some
good performances show that he will do well at Lingfield today. He is likely to get third top spot in the contest.
Conclusion
Besides this trio, none of the other runners is carrying good form. Thus, the National Hunt is going to be a real battle among these favourites. Victory definitely seems to be bending on Friendship Bay. Let us see how he manoeuvres success to his favour.
Good luck to all the runners.
