Question:

Frige leaks for some reason

I was cleaning my kitchen and moved my frigidaire a bit to clean the back. Weeks later I noticed water on the floor, and it was coming out of the frige. I guess somehow I moved/broke something, is this expensive to fix?

  1. Do you have an ice maker or water dispenser on your frige? If so you may have kinked the line not expensive or hard to fix.

  2. It's likely normal, especially if it's humid where you live. When the freon travels through the cooling coils, it condenses moisture in the air. This is generally allowed to drip down the back of the unit, where it reaches the warm compressor and evaporates.

There is also a drip pan under the fridge where the condensate collects and further evaporates. If there was a puddle of condensate in the drip pan when you moved the fridge, it may have splled out a bit.

If the thing works fine, I wouldn't worry about it.

  3. Same problem here but it stoppede after a while  becuase my little brothers were always opening the fridge door and leaving it open then water started to leak out but my parents didnt get it fixed it just leaks when the fridge door is open.

  4. If it's self defrosting then there should be a drip pan (usually plastic) under neath which the water from defrosting drips into and then evaporates before the next defrost cycle. Perhaps, in moving the fridge, you got the pan tilted so the water runs out on the floor. Get a flashlight and look to see if that's the problem.
