Mr Slothcombe my butler has asked for a day off. Should I sack him for this or perhaps set the dogs on him?

The wretch should be burnt at the stake!!!

If it is really that important to him that he have a day off, allow him this alternative of being sacked (and by that I mean having to endure 3 hours of your sack on his nostrils):

He must hire his own man servant (out of his own wages) to be his replacement in the event of his absence. Of course, he must train his new man servant to meet the highest standards you no less expect of him.
