about the same time I noticed that the "need new filter" light was on. I changed the filter to a new one, but still no ice in the ice maker. Ideas?? No noise, no dripping water, just no ice at all. Thanks!!

  1. Is your ice maker mounted in the rear of the freezer?  If so, there are several things that could be causing your problem.

First thing I would check is to see if the fill tube for the ice maker is frozen shut.  If it is, you can use a hair dryer to melt the ice blockage.  If that checks good, you need to check the ice maker itself.  Make sure that the bail arm moves easily and is not hanging up on anything.  The bail arm is the thin metal wire running along the front of the ice maker.  If that is moving easily, you can check the ice maker itself.  Hold down the on off button down for about 10 to 15 seconds to put it in a manual harvest cycle.  If water comes in, wait a day and see if it starts making ice on it's own.  If it doesn't, you need to replace the ice maker.  If no water comes in, you need to replace the ice maker.  You can get an ice maker for around 100 to 150.00 dollars.  Just go to a parts supplier with your model number and they can set you up with the correct ice maker.
