Question:

Frigidaire phsc239dsb0 ice maker

My ice maker stopped working recently. The ice is built up and won't release into the bin. We melted the ice off and it worked for a day, but built up again. I contacted Frigidaire and they suggested I replace the heating element. I called a local dealer and they said I should replace the entire ice maker bc I could cause more problems replacing one piece. I'm nervous this won't fix the problem, although the valve seems ok since it's a single valve and the water side works fine. Also, the arm is down.

What do you recommend? I'd hate to spend $100 and still have issues, and there's no return on electrical parts at this dealer.

I read another post re: a similar issue and a thermal cutout was mentioned, but they also said to replace the entire ice maker. I guess I'd like reassurance that I'm doing the right thing.
