Frisby Barney shines in Betfred.com Dual Distance Trophy Final at Nottingham
Frisby Barney stole the show at Nottingham on Monday night, winning the finale of Betfred.com Dual Distance Trophy with plenty of ease. The black dog did not face any difficulty in beating his kennel-mate, Ballymac Barn, and the rest to grab the first prize
worth £400.
With the odds of 3 to 1, the winning hound started off the proceedings from the third trap. He picked up an early pace and it helped him establish dominance in the beginning. The dashing hound led the affair all the way through and eventually seized the
first position by one and a half lengths.
Ballymac Barn failed to trouble the leading runner, despite a clear run. After stepping out from the orange box, the 7-2 chance kept running well, but his speed was not enough to earn him the victory. As a result, the black dog could only secure the runner-up
spot.
Hather George had a crowded run up and therefore, it was almost impossible for him to create some problems for the top pair. However, Charlie Lister’s rampant dog was lucky to grasp the third place, as Head Iton Eoin fell short only by a head’s distance.
Fifis Legend, who was declared hot favourite ahead of the race, failed to live up to the expectations. The C. Allsopp-trained got crowded in the beginning and as a result, finished at bottom of the table.
Nottingham hosted many other high profile meetings on Monday night. Betfred Bonus King Bingo Standard Trophy was also an entertaining event. The £200 contest saw Little Gent doing a wonderful job to bag the winning cheque by a couple of lengths.
The 7-2 chance, Delonte, gave him a lot of hard time despite getting crowded early on. Since luck was not on his side, C. Allsopp’s charge could not surpass the triumphant hound and ended up second on the table.
Betfred 'The Bonus King' Puppy Standard produced a massive upset. The 20-1 chance, Mademoiselle, annihilated the star-studded line-up to secure the first place by four and a half lengths. While her opponents suffered plenty of mess in the early stages, the
brindle b***h retained her advantage from pillar to post.
